Usage Of Photoinitiator 819
Photoinitiator 819 is a highly efficient bisacylphosphine oxide (BAPO) photoinitiator, widely used in UV/LED curing systems. Its core applications are as follows:
1. UV/LED Curing of Thick Film Systems
◦ Ideal for curing thick, pigmented, or opaque coatings (e.g., white, black, or colored inks/paints), as its broad absorption spectrum (up to ~450 nm) enables deep light penetration and full through-curing.
◦ Commonly used in UV-curable screen inks, offset inks, and flexographic inks for printing on plastics, paper, and metal substrates.
2. Industrial Coatings & Adhesives
◦ Used in UV-curable wood coatings, metal coatings, and plastic coatings, providing fast surface and deep curing even with high pigment loads.
◦ Applied in UV-curable structural adhesives and sealants for electronics, automotive, and aerospace applications, where fast, low-temperature curing is required.
3. 3D Printing & Additive Manufacturing
◦ A key component in UV-curable resins for stereolithography (SLA) and digital light processing (DLP) 3D printing, enabling high-speed curing of complex, thick parts with good mechanical properties.
4. LED Curing Applications
◦ Compatible with long-wavelength UV and LED light sources (365–420 nm), making it suitable for modern LED curing systems in printing, coatings, and electronics assembly.
5. Overprint Varnishes & Clear Coatings
◦ Used in clear overprint varnishes (OPVs) and high-gloss coatings, providing excellent surface cure, scratch resistance, and weatherability when combined with light stabilizers.
