Usage of 3,5-Dimethylpyrazole

3,5-Dimethylpyrazole is a heterocyclic raw material. It acts as blocking agent for isocyanate in one-component polyurethane coatings and adhesives. It is also used as agricultural nitrification inhibitor, and intermediate for pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and coordination ligands.

1. Polyurethane & Coatings Industry (Primary Use)
It blocks NCO groups to produce one-component  latent polyisocyanate crosslinkers, stable at room temperature and crosslinks upon heating. Features low deblocking temperature, good yellowing resistance and low VOC. Widely used in automotive stoving clearcoats, coil coatings, electrophoretic paint, powder coatings, waterborne PU systems, polyurethane adhesives, textile finishing and synthetic leather.
2. Agriculture
Used as nitrification inhibitor for nitrogen fertilizers. It slows ammonium conversion to nitrate, reduces nitrogen leaching loss, improves nitrogen utilization efficiency and lessens environmental pollution.
3. Organic Synthesis Intermediates
Building block for agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, dyestuffs and photochemicals. Used to synthesize antibacterial, antifungal and antitumor pyrazole derivatives.
