Usage Of Glycolic acid
Glycolic acid (CAS 79-14-1) is the simplest alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA).
1. Cosmetic & Personal Care: Used as exfoliating agent in skincare formulations, removes dead keratinocytes, improves skin texture, brightens complexion, reduces fine lines and acne marks for toners, peels and body care products.
2. Industrial Cleaning & Metal Treatment: Serves as rust remover, scale cleaner and chelating agent for boiler, heat exchanger, PCB and semiconductor wafer cleaning; applied in electroplating as brightener to refine coating.
3. Polymer & Biomaterial: Raw material for PGA, PLGA biodegradable polymers, used in medical sutures, sustained-release drug carriers and eco-friendly degradable plastics.
