Usage Of Octocrylene
Octocrylene is an oil-soluble organic UV absorber with excellent photostability, presented as clear yellow viscous liquid. It mainly absorbs UVB and short-wave UVA within 280–320 nm, and serves as an indispensable stabilizer for composite sunscreen systems, widely applied in cosmetics, personal care, polymer materials and industrial anti-UV fields.
1. Cosmetic & Sunscreen Industry
It is the most classic UVB filter for daily sunscreen formulas. It efficiently blocks ultraviolet rays to avoid sunburn, redness and epidermal damage, greatly improves SPF value of finished products, and stabilizes other light-sensitive sunscreen ingredients such as avobenzone to prevent photolysis and formula failure.
Common formulations: facial sunscreen, body sun lotion, tinted cream, BB/CC cream, lip balm, outdoor after-sun repair products, tanning oil and isolation cream.
2. Daily Hair Care & Makeup Protection
Added to hair conditioner, hair spray, hair gel and styling products, it protects hair cuticles from UV damage, reduces hair dryness, yellowing and fading; it also prevents color cosmetics, essence and facial serums from discoloration and deterioration under long-term sunlight exposure.
