Usage Of Alpha-Chloralose
1. Rodenticide
Alpha-Chloralose is widely used as a rodenticide, particularly effective against mice, especially at temperatures below 15 °C. It works by depressing the central nervous system, slowing metabolism, and inducing fatal hypothermia in target rodents. It is formulated into bait products with typical active ingredient concentrations of 4–8%.
2. Avian Control / Avicide
Alpha-Chloralose can be used as an avicide or bird control agent. It acts as a sedative or anesthetic on birds, making them easier to manage or control. It has also been reported as a bird repellent on seed grain in agricultural settings.
3. Anesthetic & Sedative in Laboratory and Veterinary Settings
In neuroscience research and veterinary medicine, Alpha-Chloralose is used as a long-acting, light anesthetic and sedative.
