Usage of 1,2,4-Benzenetricarboxylic anhydride
1. Production of High-Performance Polyimides & Polyamide-imides
Trimellitic Anhydride is a key monomer for synthesizing polyamide-imide (PAI) and polyimide resins. These polymers are renowned for their exceptional thermal stability, high mechanical strength, and excellent electrical insulation properties. They are widely used in high-temperature engineering plastics, wire enamels, and coatings for the aerospace, electronics, and automotive industries.
2. Manufacture of Alkyd Resins & Polyester Resins
Trimellitic Anhydride is used as a cross-linking agent and modifier in the production of high-solids alkyd resins, waterborne polyesters, and powder coatings. It imparts excellent hardness, gloss retention, weather resistance, and chemical resistance to the final coatings, making them suitable for metal finishing, automotive topcoats, and appliance paints.
